MAFCO’s Second Private Stakeholder Dinner: Empowering Local Designers and Creatives

The Mid-Atlantic Fashion Council (MAFCO) continues to build momentum in our mission to cultivate a thriving fashion community within the Mid-Atlantic region. Our second private stakeholder dinner brought together key industry talent, including Travis Winkey, Earl Bannister, and many more, to discuss the crucial resources and opportunities that local designers, models, casting directors, and retail owners need to succeed. This dinner was not just a networking event, but a collaborative space for brainstorming, problem-solving, and sharing ideas for growth.

A Focus on Local Talent and Opportunities

As we strive to develop a cohesive and sustainable fashion ecosystem in Maryland, it’s important that we provide tangible support to those who make up the foundation of this industry. At the dinner, the conversation was rich with ideas and solutions for removing barriers that limit local creatives from reaching their full potential.

A standout moment of the evening came from our special guest, Rasheed Aziz, founder of the EMAGE Center, a garment manufacturing plant. Rasheed shared his vision for how his company can support local garment workers and designers by providing high-quality production facilities. His insights into sustainable production practices and job creation were eye-opening for many in attendance.

As the founder of a local garment manufacturing facility, Rasheed’s expertise is invaluable in helping designers move from concept to product. His conversation highlighted how collaboration between local garment manufacturers and designers can help elevate the industry while supporting a sustainable supply chain within the Mid-Atlantic region.

A Focus on Local Talent and Opportunities

The second private stakeholder dinner was another important step in the development of a stronger, more interconnected fashion community. We recognize that the future of fashion in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic relies not just on individual efforts, but on collaboration. By coming together with thought leaders, experienced professionals, and creatives, we are laying the foundation for a thriving industry that can compete on a global scale.

The evening was filled with inspiration, and we are excited to continue these conversations and foster partnerships that will bring the region’s fashion scene to new heights. The discussions from this dinner will guide our efforts to provide the necessary resources, infrastructure, and connections to ensure that local talent is set up for long-term success.
