The Mid-Atlantic Fashion Council was founded with the vision of revolutionizing the fashion industry in the Mid-Atlantic region, empowering local talent, fostering inclusivity, and promoting sustainable practices.
Our Story
Established by Derrick Chase, the executive producer of the renowned Baltimore MET Gala, alongside Taija Thomas, CEO, of Illustrious Collective, a premier content agency in Baltimore. The council brings together a diverse and dynamic group of leaders to support and uplift the regional fashion community.
The council’s content team is led by Tyrone Wilkens, a photojournalist for Baltimore Magazine and co-founder of Illustrious Collective, who brings his expertise in visual storytelling to elevate the council’s creative direction. With in-valuable support from the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, and the expertise of former fashion department leads Devin Shacklett and Caprece Ann Jackson, the Mid-Atlantic Fashion Council works to create a thriving ecosystem for fashion professionals, entrepreneurs, and creatives.
The council provides its members with exclusive access to monthly fashion events around the region and helps amplify the visibility of the industry’s most talented artists through strategic content partnerships. Together, we aim to cultivate a vibrant fashion scene that not only showcases the rich talent of the Mid-Atlantic but also sets a new standard for innovation, inclusivity, and economic development in American fashion.

MAFCO (Mid-Atlantic Fashion Council) is a community-driven organization that supports and promotes fashion creativity, innovation, and leadership in the Mid-Atlantic region.
To become an Event Leader, submit a proposal detailing your fashion programming. If selected, you’ll receive event management and marketing support from MAFCO.
Our event space is perfect for fashion shows, pop-up shops, workshops, panel discussions, and other creative gatherings. We offer a flexible environment for various events.
MAFCO’s co-working space is available to fashion professionals looking for a collaborative and creative environment. Contact us to learn more about membership and booking.
